    Satya vathi Rathod is a well-known Indian Politician and the first tribal woman to serve as a minister in Telangana. Since 2019, she has been serving as the Minister of Scheduled Tribal, Women and Child Welfare of Telangana. She has been serving as the Member of the Telangana Legislative Council from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi which is a regional political party of Telangana. Earlier in 2009, she served in the Dornakal constituency in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Telugu Desam Party.

    Early life and Education

    Rathod was born on 31 October 1969 in Pedda Thanda, Kuravi Mandal which is a small village in Mahabubabad district, Telangana, at that time part of Andhra Pradesh. Currently, she is 52 years old. She is daughter of Lingya Naik and Dasmi Bhai. She is the youngest daughter of her parents, among five siblings. She completed her schooling till class VII. Then she dropped out of school and got married. Later she completed her studies and acquired her degree from an open university.

    Political Career

    In 1989, she started her political career and joined the Telugu Desam Party. She was elected from the Dornakal constituency the same year but she lost to the candidate of Indian National Congress Redya Naik. In 1995, she served as the Sarpanch of Gund rati madugu.

    In 2006, she won the Jila Pari shad of Narsi mhula pet. In the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, she was contested as an MLA from the domical Dorna kal constituency. In March 2014, she quit the Telugu Desam Party and joined the Telangana Rash tra Sami thi. In 2014, she re-contested for the same seat but lost again to Redya Naik of Congress. In the 2018 assembly election, she didn’t contest. Then in March 2019, she served as a member of the Telangana Legislative Council. In September 2019, you took oath as Minister of ST Welfare, Women and Child Welfare in the Second cabinet of K. Chandrasekhar Rao and became the first woman from the scheduled tribe to serve as a minister in Telangana.

    Personal life

    Rathod got married to Govind Rathod. She has two children, both sons. In July 2009, her husband died in a road accident.
