    Shobha Nagi Reddy bio

    Shobha Nagi Reddy was an Indian Politician who served in the Allagadda constituency in the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh. Till 2012, she continued to be a member of the Legislative Assembly four times. After that, she resigned from the party due to some upheaval. In Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) she worked as a chairperson and also served as the spokesperson for the Prajarajyam party. Formerly she has also been General Secretary and has also been a member of the state committee in the Telugu Desam Party. Later she retired from the Prajarajyam party and associated with the newly established YSR Congress in 2012.

    Early life

    Shobha Nagi Reddy was born on 16 November 1968 in Alla gadda, Andhra Pradesh, India. She grew up and studied up to intermediate in Alla gadda, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. She was the youngest daughter of her father S.V. Shubba Reddy.  She has two older siblings. Her sister Nagara thamma is a politician and former minister from Andhra Pradesh and her brother Mohan Reddy also works as a Politician.

    Political career

    In 1996, Shobha Nagi Reddy first became actively involved in politics as before she was a housewife. Her husband was elected as a Member of Parliament but had to resign from his post as a Member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Allagadda constituency. So she was elected to the vacant Assembly seat fighting as a candidate of the Telugu Desam Party. After that, she was elected four times consecutively to the state assembly and she is also the only woman from Andhra Pradesh to have been a legislator.

    In 2004, she was elected for the Nand yal Lok Sabha seat but was unsuccessful. In 2008, she and her husband joined the newly made Prajaraj yam party.

    In 2011, she joined the YSR Congress party. She won Allagadda state assembly Constituency subsequently which she has elected as YSR Congress candidate in the 2014 state elections which were conducted on May 7 of the same year just after her sudden death.

    Allagadda Assembly Constituency could be her first election of Andhra mandate post bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

    Personal life

    In 1986, she got married to Bhuma Nagi Reddy who was also an Indian Politician. They have three children, two daughters named Bhuma Akhila Priya and Bhuma Naga Mounika and a son named Bhuma Jagat Vikhyat Reddy.

    Death

    On 24 April 2014, at the age of 45 she died in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. She was returning after campaigning for the upcoming 2014 assembly election but hours later she died undergoing treatment in a Care hospital in Hyderabad.
